1) What do I have to do to enroll a boy / girl in the Nursery (0-3 years)?
The “Asili Nido” – Nursery – of Roma Capitale welcome boys and girls from 3 months to 3 years old (born from 1 January 2019). It is necessary to contact the Municipality in which they reside, even temporarily, where it will be possible to register them to the nursery by filling in a specific form, in which the following data must be indicated:
– personal data, “Codice Fiscale” or STP code of the applicant and of the child;
– address and contact details;
– vaccinations carried out by the minor.


2) What should I do to enroll a boy / girl in Kindergarten (3-6 years)?

The Kidergarten Schools of Roma Capitale welcome boys and girls aged 3 to 6 (born from 1 January 2016). It is necessary to contact the Municipality in which they reside, even temporarily, where it will be possible to register them by filling out a specific form, in which the following data must be indicated:
– personal data, “codice fiscale” or STP code of the applicant and of the child;
– address and contact details;
– vaccinations carried out by the minor.


3) What can be done if the minor has not undergone complete vaccinations or does not have the relevant documentation?

The Municipality will provide the family with contact with the ASL of reference, which will plan the vaccination schedule provided in relation to the age of the child.

4) What are the costs for attending the Capitoline nursery centers and preschools?

Attendance at the Capitoline infant-toddler centers and preschools for minors from Ukraine is totally free.


5) How does the choice of the structure that will host the minor take place?

The Municipality will evaluate in which schools (Kindergarten and Nursery) to place the boys and the girls, taking into account the places available in the different structures. The insertion will take place after checking the vaccination regularity of the child enrolled (in the case of unvaccinated children, see question 3).


6) What can be done if the child is disabled?

Any disability of the child must be reported to the Municipality, to allow the adoption of adequate support and inclusion measures.


7) Are there support figures to help Ukrainian users to apply to Municipalities?

The presence of linguistic and cultural mediators is expected in the Local Municipalities.


8) How can I find more information for enrolling in nurseries and preschools in Rome?

9) What should I do to enroll a boy or girl in primary or lower secondary school (6-13 years)?

In this age group, boys and girls attend primary school (6-10 years) or lower secondary school (11-13 years). It is necessary to contact the secretariats of the state schools in the area of residence where the children should be enrolled directly. The schools are grouped into “Istituti Comprensivi” -Comprehensive Institutes – with their own Headmaster and are autonomous.


10) What do I have to do to enroll a boy or a girl in secondary school (14-18 years)?

In this age group, boys and girls attend upper secondary school. It is necessary to contact directly the secretariats of the state schools in the area of residence (high schools, technical or professional institutes) where you intend to enroll the boys / girls. High schools are run by their own school manager and are autonomous.


11) Is it possible to use the Roma Capitale school catering service?

Yes, the school catering service (mensa) is provided for all boys and girls who come from the conflict zone.


12) Is it necessary to present documents for school catering?

No, it is necessary to submit only the application form available in Municipalities, schools and downloadable online. The completed application must be submitted for each child and delivered in paper form to the competent Municipality in the case of a nursery (0-3 years) or kindergarten (3-6 years), or directly to the school in the case of primary school or lower secondary school.


13) If there is a need for a special diet for reasons of health or religious ethics, or a light diet, what should be done?

Special diets for health or ethical religious reasons or “light” diet must be prescribed by a doctor with a special certificate to be delivered to the “Ufficio Dietiste- Dietitian Office” of the territorially competent Municipalities.


14) I live in a facility far from school and I don’t know how to take my child to school. What can I do?

Write an email to: [email protected] indicating where you are staying and the school where your child is enrolled. Also leave a phone number where Council staff can find you.


15) I have to enroll my child who has a disability in school. How can I do?

Write an email to: [email protected] indicating where you are staying, the age of your child, the school at which you have enrolled him / her or would like to enroll him / her and leave a telephone number where the staff of the Municipality can contact you again.
